Titles

[edit]

If you know the titles of these games that released in Japan please list them. — Request moved from article text. - unsigned comment by User:Sail max 6-22-05 and User:Android79. Both on 9 July 2005.

Another One

[edit]

I own an old copy of a Pokemon video game for GB Color that is not in the list. It is an early trading-card game simulation, stemming the very first season (about). Better find it... Resident Mario (talk) 19:39, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Later...
Found it! "Pokemon Trading Card Game" for GB Color. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Resident Mario (talkcontribs) 23:51, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Its already on the list under related titles. Salavat (talk) 00:14, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PokéROM Gotta LEARN 'em all

[edit]

Article says 8mm cdroms. 8cm seems more plausable but I knew nothing of the product until I read this right now. Any one in the know willing to confirm/deny? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.134.253.55 (talk) 04:45, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they are 8cm across (same size as GameCube discs) with the edges chopped off. Here's an image. I've corrected the article. Cheers and thanks for bringing this up. -sesuPRIME 07:26, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Black and White

[edit]

The information on Black and White is a little strange.

Pokedex: 1-5?? (+500 Tsutaja to ???) If you look at the information on the older games, the +xxx means how many new pokemon are added. This probably shouldn't be there, plus it suggests 500 new pokemon are being added. It's highly doubtful.

What are your thoughts on this?Dullstar (talk) 06:23, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the whole line. It doesn't tell any information. It doesn't need to be there. Blake (Talk·Edits) 15:20, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Release date for japan of Red/Blue

[edit]

In the sidebar, it states that Pokemon Red and Blue came out in 1995, while the list states its 1996, which, according to the Pokemon Red Page is the correct date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Buwald (talkcontribs) 22:32, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date Order

[edit]

Just looking at the original release date section of each game, some (Yellow, Gold & Silver etc.) are in chronological release date from earliest to latest, but others (Red & Blue, Emerald etc.) are in the order Japan -> North America -> Europe -> Australasia. They should all be in the same order, is there a consensus of if it should be by release date or region? BulbaThor (talk) 22:11, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Coloring of Pokémon titles within the table

[edit]

Specifically, I am referring to this edit. I disagree with this choice to use different colors for the Pokémon tiles because it is both unnecessary as well as several of the font colors make the resulting text very hard to read due to the bad contrast between the text foreground color and the table background color. Artichoker[talk] 00:40, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely right. Going off of WP:COLOR, there's really no point in using color in this case and, for accessibility reasons, it would be best to leave it as it is. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 21:03, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pokemon Sun/Moon Japanese Titles

[edit]

The article says """Known in Japan as Poketto Monsutā Taiyō and Tsuki (ポケットモンスター日・ムーン lit. "Pocket Monsters: Sun and Moon"?)""", but isn't that wrong? Aren't they called ポケットモンスターサン・ムーン (Poketto Monsutā San and Mūn)? Even if not, "ムーン" is not read as "Tsuki" for sure - so it should either be read as "Mūn" or be written as "月". --14.3.86.126 (talk) 06:04, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Smartphone game addition.

[edit]

A game has been released since 2014 in North America. It's called Camp Pokémon, and somehow I don't see it listed in the page. Do you think we should add it to the list? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 00:59, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!

[edit]

Editors trying to remove Pokemon Let's Go from the main games section, please state your reasons and if you can sources as well. Multiple editors have now reverted your changes. At this point BRD dictates a discussion. Leave the accepted revision with Pokemon Let's Go as a main game. Let a consensus decide if the content should be removed instead of constantly reverting.

I've semi-protected the page for 2 weeks because of continued edit warring. Unregistered users appear to be the only offending parties so I don't believe the page warrants full protection. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 06:08, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Understood and much appreciated. Thank you for the semi-protection. DeniedClub❯❯❯ talk? 06:12, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mainline game definition

[edit]

I would like to explore this topic a little bit further just so we have some community consensus on the definition of a mainline game. The IP user that was attempting to revert explained:

[...] it is not a main game as by the necessary definition of being able to trade pokemon between all of the main games, and as such it does not belong in the main game section. [...]

Now I am admittedly not well-versed on the definition of a mainline Pokemon game. However, I will say that as another user pointed out in their edit summary - with new consoles and technology, games will not be able to retain the ability to 'trade pokemon between all of the main games'. So I would like to ask if anyone could explain what defines a 'mainline Pokemon game'. Is it something that is confirmed by the studio that owns the intellectual property, or is it defined by some previous definition spelled out sometime ago? If anyone would like to pop in with a clarification on what defines a mainline Pokemon game, it would provide some basis/consensus for future editors to reference when making future changes to the article. DeniedClub❯❯❯ talk? 08:00, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I think this post at ResetaEra does a great at explaining what the main series is and why Let's Go is part of it: https://www.resetera.com/threads/yes-pok%C3%A9mon-lets-go-pikachu-and-lets-go-eevee-are-part-of-the-core-pok%C3%A9mon-series.55484/
Also check this Bulbapedia article: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Core_series
It's clearly obvious that Let's Go is part of the main series of Pokemon games Josephvb10 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:34, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent sources and quite informative as well. For a layman I immediately have a better understanding of what is defined as mainline. Based on those sources I would agree that Let's Go is part of the main series. Counter points with sources are still very welcome if anyone would like to open a dialogue, as Josephvb10 (talk · contribs) has provided a solid definition. This article states that the arcade games were only released in Japan, however you can actually find them in my home Country of Singapore and possibly other Asian countries. I remember seeing Tretta Machines in the mall near my house Particularbeach (talk) 04:52, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
